Synonyms and antonyms are one of my favorite topics to teach. There are so many fun activities that you can do with students to engage them! I'm continuing on my theme of creating a blog post each month that has engaging and educational videos for you to share with your little learners.
I hope these posts are helpful to you and more importantly, that they save you precious time. I don't know about you, but when I am able to cut down on my planning time, that's a win in my book!
Here are some great videos you can show your class when you are teaching synonyms.
I'm going to ask you again…. do you have a BrainPOP account at your school? If not, you should totally look into getting one because most every time I am teaching a new skill and I want to show a video to my class, I start there.
Here is a great video about both synonyms and antonyms from BrainPOP Jr. You can totally stop the video half way through if you are just introducing synonyms first and then return later to finish it up (stop at 2:28 if just doing synonyms). Or this would be a great review video because it covers both topics.
This is another great video to show students when you are teaching about synonyms. I love how this video touches on the fact that synonyms don't have to mean exactly the same thing in order to be synonyms.
The video above comes from the same YouTube channel as the synonym video above and it does a great job at explaining what antonyms are.
The Opposites Song is so cute and I can totally see my entire class singing this song as a way to review antonyms!
These videos from Grammaropolis are so cute and engaging! There's always a fun story line and songs that catches students attention!
Make sure you head over to these posts when you are looking for other teaching videos:
